Cannot fast scroll down/up
when the problem appeared, i tried replacing the keymap.xml with the most updated one from xbmc cvs on sourceforge.org, i tired deleted all the files in tdata and udata, deleted all the memory info for xbmc in xbox, but all these still couldn't fix the problem, still couldn't fast scroll down/up using left/right trigger.
however, if i replaced the default.xbe in xbmc.0420.hdy, xbmc.0424-orw *and *xbmc_mag_2005-04-28, with the one in xbmc-0416-phree, then there is no problem at all, i could fast scroll down/up using left/right trigger, this proves that there is problem with default.xbe in the latest releases of xbmc.
don't know this problem is universal or just mine, could any of xbmc team members check this?
until i can reproduce faults though, i can't fix them.
spiff: if you are running debug environment, please pop a break point in framemove() once this issue has popped up and step through and see what's going on.
i suspect that the lastanalogkey and newanalogkey aren't being reset properly - the code looks fine from a quick glance however.
the new system should improve things somewhat, and is overdue (the main issue it addresses is currently multiple actions can be sent with the sticks - eg analog move and any of the separate directional actions)
cheers,
jonathan
i would like to add also that this issue happens at radom moments when you return to xbmc from playing a game
but how do you return to xbmc after playing a game.
you mean doing an in game reset through your bios?
or is there a cool xbmc feature that i've missed?
btw. i experienced this also once or twice. but just did a reboot and that fixed it.
the right thumbstick fix works for me if you move it up and down a couple of times...
using build 08-05-2005
but if i replaced the default.xbe with the one in xbmc-0416-phree, there's no problem at all (it worked fine for a long, long time), it seems there's problem with default.xbe in the latest build.

this happened to me yesterday with my logitech wireless controller. older builds have had no problems. i have reinstalled xbmc multiple times and it has not fixed my problem. it seems to be permenantly bugged for some reason. if i unplug the wireless and plug in a standard controller, it seems to work fine. if the wireless and a standard are plugged in together, neither of them work.
i have tried installing two different *newer* builds. 06-04-05 and 06-08-05. the 04 build worked for a couple of days without any problems. the only thing i haven't tried was reverting to my previous build from 04-10-05 which never had a problem.
it seemed to do it while i was changing batteries, now, i know the controller itself is fine, because i can reboot the system from the controller. all previous mentions of attempting to fix it have not worked for me.
you are completely right.
i don't know why i didn't notice this before, but i have booted into avalaunch many times, and even the x3 config many times with this controller and really have not had a problem. i just went back to test it again in avalaunch and the default calibration is off. i suspect this may be a problem with the wireless logitech controllers as a whole.
oh well, time to go out and buy a dvd remote! :)
i don't know if anyone else was able to get this fixed, but its been bothering me for almost a month now and i have found something interesting out. i noticed that when i went into games, my left analog stick would not be calibrated quite properly. for instance, if i was playing a third person type game, my character would slowly walk forward and a little bit to the right.
so, with that in mind, i went back to xbmc with my wireless controller and held the left analog stick back and to the left a little bit. when i did that, the controller was calibrated properly according to xbmc and i was able to fast scroll up and down, plus use the right analog stick for volume. (this previously did not work).
so, now all we have on our hands is a calibration issue somewhere in the new builds. the strange part of this is, why would we even be having this calibration issue, and why it is happening to more than one person?
is there any way to completely reset the calibration, or, better yet, be able to manually configure the calibration to fix this issue. i have gone as far as to set the deadzone to .3 and that still had not had an effect on the problem.
during my upgrades for the xbmc, i removed the xbmc folder, the 0face008/*.* files in udata and tdata, and deleted the cache. that is everything that i really know would be causing the issue. now, something even more strange that i found out. i was browsing my e: and noticed an apps/xbmc folder. strangely enough, the log files in the folder were dated back to 06/09, the same date that i started having the problems with this wireless controller. i deleted the entire apps folder containing xbmc and this still did not have an effect on the problem.
so, somewhere, incorrect calibration data is being held.
i hope this helps the problem.

so, for me, there are two solutions to the malfunction of fast scroll down/up: 1) replace the default.xbe with the one from xbmc-0416-phree; *2) choose to play a game and then return to xbmc
hope the above-mentioned info helps xbmc devs to solve the problem
that is a big no-no.
